Your Questions Answered

1. Why do you charge the rates you do?

Our rates cover more than just the hours we spend in your garden.

Living and working in the Scottish Highlands means longer travel times, higher fuel costs, and extra wear and tear on our van and equipment.

We also maintain professional-grade tools so every job is done safely and to a high standard.

On top of that, we carry insurance and cover the running costs of a small rural business.

We always aim to keep our pricing fair, while giving you reliable, professional work and real value for money.

Not at all. As long as we can access the garden safely, you don’t need to be in.

Many of our clients are out during the day, and we’re used to working independently.

We’ll keep in touch before and after the job so you know what’s been done.

If there are any gates, locks, or special access instructions, just let us know in advance.

Yes — we can take care of it for you if needed.

In the Scottish Highlands, green waste disposal often means longer trips to recycling points, so we quote this separately.

Where possible, we encourage composting on site or using your council green waste bins, as this keeps costs down and is kinder to the environment.

If you’d prefer us to remove the waste, we’re happy to do so and will include it clearly in your quote.

Living in the Scottish Highlands, we know the weather can change quickly!

Light rain usually doesn’t stop us — most garden work can still go ahead safely.

However, for jobs like hedge cutting, tree work, or snow clearance, safety always comes first. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll reschedule as soon as possible.

We’ll always work with you to find a new time that suits, and keep you updated so you know exactly what’s happening.

Yes — we bring everything needed to complete the job.

All our tools and machines are professional-grade and petrol-powered, so we can work efficiently in large or rural gardens without relying on electricity.

We invest a lot of time and money in maintaining our equipment — regular servicing, sharpening, and repairs are essential to keep everything safe and reliable. This is part of what’s built into our pricing.

The only thing we may occasionally need is access to an outside water supply — for example, for jet washing or watering in new plants.

Other than that, you don’t need to provide anything.

Yes — we’re happy to help with both.

Some clients just need a one-time tidy-up, clearance, or seasonal cutback.

Others prefer regular visits to keep their lawns, hedges, and beds looking neat all year round.

Whichever option works best for you, we can tailor the service to your garden’s needs.

Please note we do not offer turf laying services.

Yes — we are fully insured for public liability.

This means you have peace of mind knowing you’re covered while we’re working in your garden, whether it’s a small maintenance job or a larger project.

In addition, Rob has completed a Disclosure Scotland (police background) check, giving extra reassurance when we’re working on your property.

For bigger projects — such as overgrown garden clearances, structure removal, or tree pruning — we usually arrange a visit first.

Every garden is different, and in rural Highland settings things like access, terrain, and waste removal can make a big difference to the time and cost.

Where the scope of work is clear, we’ll provide a fixed quote.

For jobs that are more unpredictable — such as tackling very overgrown areas — we may recommend an hourly rate instead.

Either way, you’ll always know the pricing approach before we start, so there are no surprises.

Yes — we work in all seasons.

During spring and summer, most of our work focuses on lawns, hedges, planting, and general garden care.

In autumn and winter, we switch to seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, storm damage tidy-ups, snow clearance, and grit spreading.

We also offer winter preparation and spring planning, including small repairs, tidying beds, and getting gardens ready for the next season.

Because we’re based in the Scottish Highlands, winter work is always weather-dependent. If conditions make a job unsafe or impractical, we’ll reschedule and keep you updated.

For large jobs, we take a 25% deposit up front to secure the booking. The remaining balance is due on the day the work is completed.

For maintenance work and smaller jobs, we kindly ask that payment is made on the day, either by cash or bank transfer.

We don’t offer credit terms, which helps us keep our pricing fair and straightforward for all clients.
